Follow the Bot – Coral Research Trip and Seagrass Surveys: East Africa (Kenya & Somaliland)

This October, join PlanetWerx in the vibrant regions of Kenya and Somaliland for an exciting “Follow the Bot” STEM initiative. Participants will engage in coral research and seagrass mapping, utilizing state-of-the-art technology such as iSENSYS data collection buoys, ROVs, and BlueBoats equipped with echo-sounders, cameras, and various sensors. Students will have the unique opportunity to assist the Follow the Bot team in these surveys and learn from leading environmental scientists. These experts will help analyze the collected data and guide the development of community-focused environmental preservation plans. This immersive experience not only promotes STEM education but also contributes to the sustainability efforts in East Africa’s coastal ecosystems.
